Lucas De Nardi has always been passionate about surfing, with a particular love for barrels. Before becoming a surf guide, he spent 16 years running his yoga school, helping thousands of students transform their lives through self-development and mindfulness.
Though deeply committed to his school, Lucas was a dedicated weekend surfer. He often drove five hours on Fridays to chase waves and improve his technique, returning home late on Sundays. Whenever possible, he travelled to legendary barrelling destinations—Indonesia, Mexico, Chile, Tahiti, and Hawaii—refining his skills and mastering the art of riding barrels.
In 2018, Lucas became a partner at Praya Charters and moved to Indonesia, where he witnessed firsthand the challenges surfers face when tackling barrelling waves over reefs. Drawing from his experiences, he began sharing insights on technique, wave reading, and safety. His coaching transformed his guests’ trips, as they gained the confidence and skills to enjoy barrels fully. This success inspired him to create the Awareness School of Barrels.
Through his program, Lucas offers personalised coaching. It focuses on teaching the core principles and techniques needed to master barrels. Whether improving line-up strategies, navigating crowds, or fine-tuning the basics, Lucas ensures surfers of all levels feel confident and make rapid progress.
